Teaching on Romans Road

Romans Road or Road to Romans are the teaching based on the book of Romans. There are many verse within this that can be taken up as a path to be followed to get salvation. I specially like this for the simplicity, although Bible is a simple book to read and understand if we have faith on the words... especially the following verses which will be highlighted as part of the Road to Romans or Romans Road.

Very simple yet powerful verses... Following 3 verses helps us summarize what the Book of Romans is trying to say to us about our life, what we are and the salvation.. how to get it.

The first step in the "Romans Road" or "Road to Romans"
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God... [Romans 3:23]

Be Transformed by the renewing of your mind

Transformed means to change, to have a difference from others. In this verse we can see two option for us to select, one in which we are now and the other is what we can have if we make our mind. One that which we have is of the world, which have its own set of attractions and downfalls... is that we are born into and live in. One that we can have is through our effort and hard work and a mind set for a change to happen in us. One we get by default, that other we choose to obtain. Each has its own set of outcomes, one is instant and the other a little slower to be revealed.

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind
[Romans 12:2]

We with our mind and nature are more attracted to the patters and plans of this world, which tends to make us more attracted to it. This can only lead to temporary happiness and excitement

How to approach our Lord? (Part II)

Dictionary meaning of Mercy is: It is an act of kindness, compassion, or favor. So when the blind men said “Have mercy on us” it’s similar to Matthew 20:20 where its John and James mother asked a favor of Jesus. So the approach way was similar to approach made by mother of Zebedee's sons. Now let’s look at the request that was made by these blind men. They said “Lord, we want you to give us our eyesight back”

[KJV]: “They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened”

There was no selfishness or self-centeredness in this request. This was requested so that these blind men can see and lead life as a normal individual. There was no wrong intention or wrong motives in their request. The initial response of Lord when these disciples and the blind med approached him was, He said “What do you want?” This is what Lord asks us all every time. He is there to give us and that also without any returns. All that he wants is to ask and that also with a good motive .

Jesus Christ's Mission

Every person has some mission in his/her life and its good to have a mission in life. If we don't have one now.. make sure we get one soon, else this life will only go in waste. Mission is also part of the profile of any new company or organization, which define why is the group there in existence. Actually any thing existing in this world is with a mission, knowingly or unknowingly.

I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
[John 10:10]

Same was the scenario with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He had come to this world, died and risen after 3 days... all these with a very specific mission. It was to save us from the punishment of our sins, and show us the way of salvation, to help us get eternal life.

Love for God is the Beginning of Knowledge

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge..
[Proverbs 1:7]

What is Fear?
The very simple and common interpretation of this verse is that our Lord is very angry if we do wrong, and if we do wrong then he will punish us. So we should fear this Lord. We should live life with this fear always in our mind. A basic and simple question from our normal life... If i ask you to obey and worship me and if you don't, i will harm you and possibly destroy you... What will be your response...there is no doubt that you will look for option to avoid me and possibly never ever even think of meeting or interacting with me. Then how do you expect we human beings to obey and worship our Lord God if we fear him. We as nature only can follow and worship whom we love and who loves us. This is what is meant in this verse under context.

For to You is Born.. A Savior

For to you is born this day in the town of David a Savior, Who is Christ (the Messiah) the Lord!
[Luke 2:11]

The story behind this verse is that, after the birth of baby Jesus, an angel come to the shephard and that angel start telling them the news of the birth of baby Jesus. This verse is what the angel said to the shephards to convey the news. Bible (New Testament) highlights that shepherds were the first who were told about the birth of Jesus. There are two thing that is highlighted in this context along with the verse highlighted in the post. One of it is "Shepherds got the Good News First" and second is "For to You is Born this Day". If we link these words from verse Luke 2:8-11, it can be read as:

Word Becoming Flesh

And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us;
[John 1:14]

In my view, this is one of the most important verses in the Bible with respect to the existence of Christ and who Christ is. This reference is one among the other well known verses in the book of Apostle John. Apostle John in this one verse is trying to explain who Christ is, what is the link between with God and God's mission with Christ coming to this world.

There are 3 words which come above others words in this verse. These are Word, Flesh and Lived. All these are very common word but when these came into a series in this verse under context, this highlighted the most important message about the Who is Christ. Word is the word of God, through which the entire universe and its creation including us were created. With just the word was all these made… how wonderful yet powerful concept.
